District Panchayat Office, Gajapati

Consequent upon separation of Gajapati district from Ganjam district, the District Panchayat Office Gajapati started functioning w.e.f. 02.10.1992. The District Panchyat Officer will remain in-charge of the Panchyat section of the Collectorate and shall dispose such such matters directly as indicated to him by the Collector.
The jurisdiction of this office comprises of 07 Blocks consisting 149 Gram Panchayats and 1865 wards.
The Gram Panchayat section of the Collectorate will deal with all matters and correspondence relating to administration of Gram Panchyats including references on the subject from Panchayat Samitities. Before re-organization of Gram Panchayats there were 129 no of Gram Panchayats. After reorganization of Gram Panchayat during the year 2016-17 the Gram Panchayats have been increased to 149 G.P. as per Panchayati Raj Department G.O. 11357/G.P. dated 02.07.2016 and 12493 dated 21.07.2016. The new Gram Panchayats started functioning w.e.f. 10.03.2017. The Block Wise Gram Panchayats are as follows

Presently the District Panchayat Office, Gajapati is functioning in DRDA Office Building w.e.f 04.10.2004 with insufficient rooms and space.

Organisation Structure:

  • Establishment of V.L.W-cum- PEOs and G.P Secretaries of this district.
  • Transfer posting of GPEO, P..A. & V.L.Ws. of this district.
  • Establishment of G.P. Secretaries and GP Peon, Night Watcher Scavengers and Tax collector.
  • The District Panchayat Officer, Gajapati has been anterested smooth management/ supervision of G.P works and subsequently deals with schemes distribution grant such as 4th, SFC & 14th C.F.C., Staff subsidy, DA/SF, Honorarium, Harishchandra Sahayata Scheme (assistance to poor and destitute for last rites) under CMRF and e-transfer the funds to Gram Panchayat and Sub-Collector, Paralakhemundi. Collect the U.Cs in respect of Staff subsidy, DA/SF, Honorarium, 4th SFC and 14th CFC (Creation of Assets, Kalayan Mandap Market complex etc) for Submission to Government in P.R Department, Odisha, BBSR. The D.P.O. should see the proper utilizations of the loans, grants and subsidies sanctioned in favour of Grama Panchayat as also proper utilizations of their internal sources and shall gear up his machinery of administration to ensure to get detailed information from his subordinate staff in that regard and monitoring G.P. level schemes, Pallli sabha & Grama Sabha , development works and guidelines issued by the time to time the DPO also watch on vacancy arising in any ward of the Grama Panchayat/Panchayati Samiti member /Sarapanch / Zilla Parishad Member and Chairman & Vice-Chairman /Naib-Sarapanch and President, Vice President for communicate the vacancy to the State Election Commission to fill up the vacancy in time and the DPO will be supervise and instruct to the Sarapanch and E.O of the GPs for augmentation of the Income from the public properties. The DPO will also monitoring on entry of PRIYA SOFT, Plan Puls PP Grant and GPDP etc.

The Dist. Panchayat Officer will be responsible for the proper functioning of Gram Panchayat in the district and shall establish close contact with them and all render them necessary advice for successfully carrying out the functions assigned to them. He shall prepare a suitable annual Inspection programme of G, Ps. and to assist the Collector/ Addl. Dist. Magistrate/PD, DRDA/Sub-Collectorn in the inspection work of G.P. section and Gram Panchayat of the District.
This office conducts the 3 tier General Election & by Election of PRIs. This office is approval authority of G.P. bodies.
